Hidden Gems of North Wales

This is another of our favourites! If you want to escape from the crowds and find the ‘real’ Wales – this is the tour for you. We take you off the beaten track, away from the tourists and to the spots loved and frequented by the locals.

Travel along quiet roads through the remote uplands of North Wales and visits sparkling lakes overshadowed by towering mountains with spectacular coastal views stretching out before you.

Cross an 18th-century wooden toll bridge over a wide sandy estuary whilst marvelling at the beauty of the hillsides which were once the centre of the welsh gold mining industry.

Visit the ancient chapel in the sand dunes which was once a focal point for Christian pilgrimages. The nearby beach is almost always deserted and if you’re really lucky, you may spot the resident Cardigan Bay dolphins feeding close to shore.

You could take a hike over a beach filled with golden sand to the tidal island named after the Welsh patron saint of lovers. This spectacular walk features views to die for out to the Llyn Peninsula and the tiny islands ancient pilot’s houses, monastery and lighthouses are just picture perfect.

Time for lunch? – maybe the tiny bistro with a hidden terrace which gives spectacular views over Cardigan Bay. One of Edward 1sts giant castles and Mt Snowdon itself as the stunning backdrop for your personal table. Or a pretty restaurant looking over its own sandy bay with fishing boats bobbing in the sunshine. Or a local seafood lunch at a pub overlooking the Menai Straits with the high mountains of Snowdonia in the distance.

Anglesey, the Llyn Peninsula, the West Coast and Snowdonia are full of less frequented, less commercialised and less crowded gems for you to discover – places that don’t pop up on the first page of a google search and that you’d never find without the help of a local.
